Napta believes that positive change can occur when we are given the space and support to explore the ways in which we cope with our life experiences. Napta's goal in therapy is to facilitate healing for individuals by looking at each person through a holistic, culturally sensitive, and strength-based lens. In therapy, Napta employs a wide-range of approaches personalized to client's needs with a person-centered and strengths-based foundation. In addition to evidence based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Napta utilizes approaches such as Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) for individuals who have experienced PTSD, anxiety and depression. She is also training in Eye Movement and Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR).
Napta's counselling experience varies from crisis work, an inpatient/outpatient hospital setting, an employee family assistance program and a family health team with diverse populations exhibiting a wide-range of presenting issues. These include but are not limited to, working with children, adolescents, families, parents, and individual adults experiencing severe trauma, anxiety, life transitions, separation/divorce, personal/professional identity, depression, loss/grief, work related issues, etc. Napta strives to empower clients through a strong therapeutic relationship.
